I’m in the Atlanta airport, about to board my flight home to Portland, and all I can think is, “God has been so kind.”
On Friday, all the people from the ministry we partnered with came up to the mountain and we talked about what God had been doing in our lives. I took sometime to pray before sharing and was hit by the overwhelming kindness of the Lord. My expectations for this trip were pretty non-existent, and I ended up getting blessed in ways I couldn’t even imagine. The prayer house, the mountain, my beautiful team: a direct reflection of God’s kindness.
This week, we continued praying and working on the mountain. However, on Wednesday, we got a call in the middle of digging something that we were needed at some kids ministry in a village an hour away. A truck showed up to get us within 15 minutes, we drove the hour, and then were immediately rushed into a room with 250 KIDS. We did an impromptu skit about the salvation story and prayed with them. This took maybe 20 minutes. Then, we were prayed over and prophesied over for another 20 minutes, fed a traditional meal, driven to a coffee shop where we were offered free coffee, and then driven all the way home. We came out feeling like we received WAY more than we gave. This seems to sum up most of my team’s experience in Guatemala.
I can’t count the amount of prophetic words we received in the past month. The beauty of where we got to live was exceptional. My team truly feels like family. I ate some of the best food I’ve ever had. My concept of ministry and prayer and the church has been impacted in a really meaningful way. All in all, God is so kind.
me getting prayed over at the mountain yay
The ministry I got to work with, Dar Para Dar, is based on Matthew 10:8, which says, “freely you have received, freely give.” This sums up my experience in Guatemala so well 🙂
